Falkenberg is an old town with roots in the early Middle Ages. Along the banks of the River Ätran, the town grew with Storgatan as its first street, and St. Laurentil Church was built as the town centre. The school, town hall, vicarage and square were all located near the church. This part of the city is now called the Old Town and also consists of beautiful wooden houses from the 19th century. In one of the old wooden houses you will find the Falkenberg County Museum. Here you can experience the development of the town from its early beginnings to the beginning of the 20th century through their beautiful, extensive collection.
