Visit the large, beautiful Odense Cathedral. The church is also known as Saint Canute's Church, named after Canute the Saint, who in 1086 was murdered nearby. Today, the skeleton of Canute the Saint is on display in the cathedral's crypt and provides a historical experience.

Go on a cheap car holiday in Denmark and visit Maribo Cathedral, originally a Birgitine monastery church donated to the Grimstrup estate by Queen Margrethe I. The church was built during the 1400s, but didn't actually become a cathedral until 1803. Inside the church you can see Leonora Christine's grave, who lived in the old monastery south of the church.

Visit Bornholm's best preserved round church, Nylars Kirke, built around 1160. The frescoes on the central column, believed to be among Bornholm's oldest, tell the story of the creation of Adam and Eve and the exile from the Garden of Eden. In the porch you will find two Christian rune stones, the oldest of which dates back to around 1050. The beautiful free-standing bell tower of timberwork dates from the late Middle Ages and stands on a large extension of boulders from the 1500s.

The 26-metre-high Olsker Rundkirke is the tallest of the four round churches on Bornholm. The church was built around 1150, but has been rebuilt and strengthened several times over the years - most recently in the mid-1900s, when the altarpiece was replaced. In this elegant round church, the staff in the porch are happy to answer questions and tell you about the church's past as a defensive fortification.

Østerlars Rundkirke is not only the largest round church on Bornholm, but in all of Denmark. It is also believed to be the oldest of Bornholm's four round churches, although the exact year of construction is unknown. Østerlars Rundkirke is central to the theory that there is a connection between the French Order of the Knights Templar and the location of Bornholm's medieval churches.

Along the way up through the ages, the church experienced several serious fires, with the last one razing it to the ground in 1726. As a result, not much remained of the beautiful cathedral, in fact, only the old crypt survived the ravages of time. The rest has been rebuilt and the present church was consecrated in 1876. In the crypt's southern chapel is the Well of St. Kjeld, where many sick people, and especially the blind, are said to have been healed. The walls and vaults of the cathedral were decorated by the artist Joakim Skovgaard and his assistants, who covered the walls and vaults of the cathedral with very colourful frescoes from the Bible story, from Adam and Eve to the end times, from 1901 to 1913. The cathedral is also Ribe's landmark and easy to spot in the flat landscape that characterises the region. It took about 100 years to complete the church, which was built around 1250. There is also an epitaph, donated by Valdemar Sejr, in honour of his son who died in 1231. Ribe Cathedral (Vor Frue Kirke), the city's pompous landmark, can be seen far and wide in the flat landscape. Ansgar, the Apostle of the North, built Denmark's first churches (of wood) in Schleswig and Ribe around 860. The present church was begun between 1150-1175 and completed between 1225-1250. After numerous alterations and additions, it is Denmark's only five-nave church, characterised by changing styles and many interesting details.

Located on Stephansplatz in the heart of Vienna's Historic City Centre, St Stephen's Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral dating from 1147. Today, the church is Vienna's most important religious building, welcoming almost 3 million visitors each year. The cathedral's spectacular roof is laid with glazed ceramic tiles, also known as majolica, and makes for quite a sight.

The Sand-Buried Church (Den Tilsandede Kirke) near Skagen is a fascinating historical site and natural wonder. Built in the 14th century and dedicated to St. Lawrence, the church was gradually engulfed by drifting sand over several centuries. By 1795, only the tower remained visible, and the church was abandoned. Today, visitors can explore the preserved whitewashed tower, a striking contrast to the surrounding sand dunes and greenery. The site offers insight into Skagen’s history and the power of nature, making it a unique attraction for history enthusiasts, photographers, and those exploring the region’s distinctive landscape.

Glückstadt Church is not only worth visiting for its architecture, but also for its acoustics. It regularly hosts concerts of many genres, from classical to pop music. The church is located on a side street near the market square.

The church was built in the 13th century and expanded in the 15th century. The church, located just south of Brösarpsbackar, has wonderful frescoes. The site of the church is very beautiful - check the opening hours in advance so you can enjoy the interior.

In the cemetery lies the author Fritjof Nilsson Piraten with the following inscription on his tombstone:

"Here lie the ashes of a man who usually put off everything till tomorrow. But he changed at his last, and actually died on January 31, 1972."

The beautiful church, located in the centre of the city, is worth a visit. Construction of the church began in the 12th century and has since seen several additions as the town has grown.

St. Nicholas was the patron saint of sailors and fishermen and from the ceiling of the church hang 2 beautiful ships. The pulpit is wooden and beautifully carved and painted. It is dated back to 1626, when Skåne still belonged to Denmark and is believed to have been carved by Claus Clausen Billedsnider.

The floor of the church consists of tombs.

Check the opening hours before you go there. The church hosts concerts and other performances mainly during the summer.

This beautiful town church in Grevesmühlen is built in a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles and, in its original form as a brick church, stood in the town before the town name Grevesmühlen was first recorded around 1230. Today, the church belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Grevesmühlen-Propstei-Wismar in Mecklenburg.

Close to the historic Steinerne Brücke in Regensburg, the Domplatz houses the grandiose Regensburger Dom (St. Peter's Cathedral). The stunning cathedral dates from the 13th century and is without comparison the most beautiful Gothic church in Bavaria. With its two 105-metre spires, impressive stained glass windows and overwhelmingly spacious interior, it is definitely an experience not to be missed.

St Blasius is an early Gothic Dominican church dating from the 13th century. It is one of the largest and oldest preserved Gothic churches in Germany. The stunning murals alone are worth a visit here, but the burial chambers and an impressively beautiful 15th-century desk are also among the highlights. The desk stands in the very room where the famous scholar St. Albertus Magnus once stood and taught.
