The north of the Netherlands consists of the regions of Drenthe, Friesland and Groningen. You can discover the Wadden Sea and the West Frisian Islands, where seals are often spotted on the sandbanks. In Friesland you will find many interesting museums, including a coffee museum. The zoo in Emmen is Holland's largest and is a classic zoo with many animals, here you can see polar bears, elephants, hippos, camels and many other interesting animals. Groningen also has a lot to offer. You can visit the university city of the same name as the region, Groningen, and see the Martinikirken, Groninger Museum and enjoy the modern architecture the city is known for. You can also see the beautiful city from a completely different angle with a boat trip on the canals that run through the city.
The southernmost Netherlands consists of the 3 provinces, Zeeland, North Brabant and Limburg. These 3 provinces each have something unique that is definitely worth a visit. Zeeland with its many islands, North Brabant with its beautiful nature and Limburg with its hilly landscape and the river Meuse. The south of the Netherlands is generally a great place for culture and leisure activities. In the major cities of Eindhoven and Maastricht, there is an abundance of museums, galleries, cinemas, exhibitions, concerts and theatre performances. Of course, don't miss a visit to Gouda, the city of cheese, or a visit to Holland's second largest city, Rotterdam.
