Boot country Italy offers holidays for all tastes. From a cultural holiday in Florence, a beach holiday on the beautiful Amalfi Coast or a family holiday on Lake Garda, this charming country has it all. Whether you are looking for an active or relaxing holiday, Risskov offers a wide range of hotel accommodation.
The beautiful scenery of Lake Garda and the many opportunities for a wonderful family holiday at your own pace have long attracted people to this beautiful destination.
Lake Garda is Italy's largest lake and enjoys a lovely temperate climate all year round. The south coast of the lake has many lovely beaches and is surrounded by low hills, while the north of Lake Garda has cliffs and mountains leading down to the lake. The terrain itself is part of the lake's charm and for the sports-minded there are plenty of opportunities for mountain biking, sailing, rock climbing, rappelling and much more. The coastline is also dotted with idyllic towns and in the south, the small picturesque town of Sirmione sits on a promontory overlooking Lake Garda. At the northern end of Lake Garda, the beautiful town of Riva del Garda lies between the mountains and the water. Here the streets are as they looked in the Middle Ages and you can enjoy the sunny and beautiful waterside areas as well as beautiful promenades. If you are taking the children on a Lake Garda self-drive holiday, you can also visit Italy's largest theme park, Gardaland, which offers hours of fun.
In northern Italy, you can also discover the Piedmont region, located at the source of the Po River, which is an incredibly beautiful and varied area with both flat valleys and impressive high mountains. The area is known for its particularly good food and wine. Don't miss the popular and leading wine regions here, such as Barolo and Asti. You can also discover the big cities of Genoa and not least the shopping city of Milan.
Tuscany, with its hilly landscape of vineyards and pine trees, is considered by many to be the most beautiful region in Italy. This is where the Chianti wines come from, as well as much of the virgin olive oil. As you travel through the countryside, don't miss a stop at one of the small local restaurants called Trattoria and a visit to the local vineyards, oil producers and pottery workshops.
In the Tuscany region you will also find Florence, a city filled with art and architecture as well as shopping, especially for leather goods and footwear. Here you can also visit the Uffizi Museum, walk along the River Arno on Ponto Vecchio and enjoy the view from Piazzale Michelangelo. In the city of Pisa you will find the famous Leaning Tower and in the beautiful city of Lucca you can visit St Martin's Cathedral. If you want to pamper yourself, head to the spa town of Montecatini and enjoy the fantastic spa facilities in a wonderful environment of lovely Italian charm.
Italy is a country full of great experiences and whether you are looking for a summer holiday with children or a romantic mini break for two, Italy is full of possibilities and is lovely all year round. A self-drive holiday also gives you the freedom to explore more of the country. Whatever you're looking for, Italy can offer it.
