Scattered across the German island of Fehmarn are five lighthouses amidst the beautiful scenery. Of these five, the Flügger lighthouse (Leuchtturm Flügge auf Fehmarn) is the only one open to visitors. The tower is surrounded by the Krummsteert nature reserve on the south-western tip of the island and rises 37 metres above the landscape. The view from here is nothing short of spectacular and undoubtedly worth the 162 steps to the top.
