Go on a cheap summer holiday in Italy and discover the historic Triumphal Arch in Rimini. The vault was built as far back as 27 BC and is one of the oldest surviving Roman triumphal arches. The beautiful arch is dedicated to Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus at a time when the emperor was consolidating his individual power. It was the beginning of the so-called Pax Romana; a peaceful and prosperous period in which several major building projects were undertaken - not least the Tiberius Bridge, for which construction actually began under Augustus, shortly before his death in 14 AD. With one of the many cheap holidays or weekend breaks that Risskov offers, it's easy to get lost in the wings of history!
