Szczecin fills the landscape along the Oder, the city itself, the shipyard, the cranes and the bridges. But if there's one thing the city's inhabitants love, it's the magnificent rampart, some 500 metres long, which offers a long terrace but a fantastic view of the Oder bank and its estuary, the many harbour channels and islands.
The promenade was built by the mayor of Szczecin, Hermann Haken, at the beginning of the 20th century. From Waly Chrobrego it is also not far to the impressive buildings housing the National Museum, the Maritime University and the County Council House.
