At the small village of Donaustauf about 10 km east of Regensburg, raised almost 100 metres above the Danube River, lies the spectacular and famous German temple, Walhalla. Built by King Ludwig I of Bavaria, the temple is confusingly similar to the famous Greek Parthenon temple in Athens. The building houses almost 200 statues and busts of famous German figures, such as Einstein and Mozart, and pays tribute to the greatest and most important German-speaking personalities in history.
