Trier, Germany's oldest city, is also a must. In Trier you can see some of the best-preserved monuments and buildings from the heyday of the Romans around 2,000 years ago. See the impressive Porta Nigra city gate, the Baroque park, the Palastgarten, where you will find some interesting Roman baths. The Amphitheatre with a capacity of 20,000 and the Roman Bridge are more good examples of Roman architecture. Present-day Trier also offers vineyards, turbo boats and the old fishermen's quarter, reminiscent of a small independent village with restaurants and cafés.
