Söderhamn is located in Hälsingland with the Bothnian Sea to the east. The town was founded as early as 1620, when Söderhamn's gun factory began operations. In the past, weapons were forged in several places in the area, and there was a desire to concentrate production in one place. For a long time before then, Söderhamn was a port, with fishing and lively trade.
Söderhamn is a charming little town where the Söderhamnsåen runs through the middle of the town, where you will also find Köpmangatan which is partly a nice pedestrian street with shops. While visiting Söderhamn, it is a must to enjoy the view from the town's landmark, the 23 meter high observation tower Oscarsborg, but the town also offers nice park areas, such as Källparken, the beautiful Ulrika Eleonora church and an old mill named 'Tullmjölkvarnen' which is located by the river.
If you feel like shopping, you'll find the 'E Center' with several shops just off the E4.
