The beautifully landscaped castle is located in the heart of Copenhagen and was built by order of Christian IV in the newly created King's Garden. The palace also holds some of Denmark's greatest cultural treasures and in the basement the Danish crown jewels and royal crowns are on display. The Knights' Hall is the magnificent hall with the throne chair made from a narwhal stand . There is also a very impressive exhibition of Flora Danica and Venetian glass, which can be visited in the tower rooms. In the Treasury the crown jewels are kept behind locks and very thick walls. The crowns are fully decorated with all the precious stones and gold ornaments that go with them. The crown jewels include some of the world's finest emeralds.
