In Otterndorf at the mouth of the Elbe in the North Sea, between Wingst and Cuxhaven, you can see the Kranichhaus (crane house), one of the most prominent buildings in the municipality and today a museum and local history archive. The house dates from 1735 and belonged to a family who traded in wine, salt and other spices.
Another highlight is the beautiful old town church of St. Severi. It is believed that there was a church here as early as the 11th century, but the earliest documentation is from 1261. The beautiful bell tower dates from 1807 and the interior of the church is predominantly Baroque.
