The island of Cres is the largest island in the Adriatic Sea and is located in the northern part of the Kvarner Gulf. The southern part of the island, at the town of Osor, Cres is connected to the island of Lošinj by a bridge. Osor is therefore a well-known tourist destination for all those visiting the islands of Cres and Lošinj and at the point where the two islands meet lies the small town of Osor. Its walls reveal a long history that can be traced back to the 9th century. The old town square has beautiful buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries and in fact the whole town is an open museum where artists and architects from previous eras have left their legacy, from the modern Meštrović to the ruins of the old walls, the fortress and the first early Christian basilica.
This historic town also offers cultural events, the most important of which is the 'Osor Musical Evening', held every summer.
