Visit the world's oldest botanical garden in Padua! The garden was founded in 1545, and although botanical gardens have been created before that, the Orto Botanico di Padova is the only garden with such a long history that is still in existence today. The garden is connected to the city's university, the Università degli Studi di Padova, where Galileo Galilei himself worked as a mathematics professor and which is the world's third oldest university and Italy's second oldest. The garden was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1997.
