The charming market town of Odder is buzzing with life and offers great shops. The Odder coast is one of the most beautiful places in Denmark and all of Denmark's nature is gathered in one place and you will also find countless historical sites. In Odder you will also find many local galleries and craftsmen with their own exhibitions.
Visit Odder Museum, for example, which is housed in a listed water and steam mill that was in use until 1955. Odder Museum is part of Moesgaard Museum and has 3 historic buildings and a large exhibition area. There are many interesting things to see, even for the very young. The permanent exhibition includes the mill, Denmark's largest collection of hunting weapons and a large exhibition of costumes.
In summer, visit the Organic Garden, which boasts the largest in the Nordic countries. Here you will find plenty of inspiration for gardeners, and the garden is a popular destination for relaxing and exciting walks. You will find a few thousand different plants, a unique diversity and plant composition, while there are also various events on a regular basis.
Another nice way to spend quality time with the family is to go to Fru Møllers Mølleri, located just under 5 km outside Odder. The mill's slow-moving stone mill grinds the grain to preserve its good taste and freshness. Here you will find cakes, bread and homemade jams that taste heavenly. Next to the mill there is a delicious restaurant and a cosy courtyard where you can enjoy your lunch.
In Rathlousdal Forest you can still feel the rush of history and experience the clear remains of the noblemen's amusements back in the last part of the 19th century. In the forest you will find the remains of the old bear cave, which housed several Russian bears. Today the cave is a bit worn down, but you can still see where the bears slept and bathed. Especially for children, playing bears in the old cave is a fun experience.
