Originally a medieval castle, it was rebuilt into a Renaissance castle by Duke Charles during the 16th century. Unfortunately, the castle burned down in 1665 along with the rest of the town. During the 1900s, parts of the castle were renovated and the Sörmlands Museum now has permanent exhibitions in the building.
