Norefjell is one of the most dominant mountain areas in southern Norway and is considered the 'high mountain' closest to Oslo. The terrain is hilly with Høgevarde as the highest point, 1,459 metres above sea level.
South of Høgevarde is the Norefjell ski centre, with 13 ski lifts that take skiers out on the more than 24 km of slopes with 26 hills of varying difficulty and an altitude difference of 1,010 metres. When it has snowed a lot, the machines don't always have time to smooth out the freshly fallen snow. This provides great opportunities for those experienced runners who like to be buried in snow for life, at full speed ahead.
There is also an area dedicated to snowboarders, with big jumps and other exciting challenges.
