Orléans museums are dedicated to Orléans science, history and archaeology. The main museum in the city is the Musée des Beaux Arts, which has an extensive collection of paintings and works of art - mainly from the period between the 17th and 19th centuries. Many of the works are by prominent names such as Velasquez. The museum's permanent collection includes works by French, Italian and Dutch artists and consists of 2,000 paintings, 700 sculptures and several thousand drawings.
