Munich is the capital of the German state of Bavaria and lies on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps. After Berlin and Hamburg, Munich is Germany's third largest city, known for its Oktoberfest, football and of course its BMW cars.
But Munich is also much more than just beer and horn music, and the Deutsches Museum is certainly one of the proofs. This impressive museum exhibits everything between heaven and earth, with either a physical or chemical nature. From speedboats to space rockets, from mines to aeroplanes. This museum is more than impressive. Or how about a visit to the beautiful baroque Theatinerkirche or Munich's three Pinakotheker, which house some of Europe's finest art. The Triumphal Arch Siegestor or the Olympic Park, there is much to do not to mention cars and the pride of the city, namely BMW. Stop by BMW Welt and experience the cars first hand, try sitting in a row of old BMWs or explore the history of BMW in some of the interactive rooms.
Now, Munich is also a bit of a beer town, so why not pay a visit to the old Hofbräuhaus beer house on Platzl, certainly an experience if German folk music and lots of beer sound appealing.
Munich is fast-paced, an energetic and lively business and shopping city, filled with exciting history and surrounded by some of Germany's finest countryside, with plenty to do for both children and adults.
