Maihaugen

Maihaugen is a large open-air museum with over 200 buildings from the previous century. There are exhibitions as well as opportunities to eat and drink.

At the museum, visitors can experience what it was like to live and work around 200 years ago, and then visit houses from the different decades of the 1900s.

Garmo Stave Church is also one of the major attractions in the park and is still used for weddings. The whole area is like a lush oasis and it's not far from the centre of Lillehammer either. It is also an area that is frequently used by the locals and therefore a lot of events are held in Maihaugen There are also permanent exhibitions, such as 'The land slowly became our own', which is a journey from the Ice Age to the time of Anders Sandvig, who was the founder of Maihaugen. The museum is an ideal destination for a family holiday and a summer holiday in Norway.
