On the outskirts of the historic spa town of Bad Wildungen lies the more than 5,000-hectare Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, one of several protected German beech forests that have won a place on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The park's exceptional biodiversity was one of the reasons why this particular forest was added to the coveted list in 2011. The area is perfect for both walking and cycling, and several guided tours are organised throughout the year.
