Kraków is an ancient and historic city located in the south of Poland, almost bordering Slovakia. Find a cheap self-drive holiday with Riskov Bilferie and go on a real family holiday to Krakow in Poland. Visit the Kazimierz quarter which is Krakow's Jewish quarter and certainly deserves a visit. Here is the old synagogue, which now houses a Jewish museum. It was here that Schindler's List was filmed, directed by Steven Spielberg with Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley on the cast list. The film won no less than seven Oscars. Since the 13th century Jews have played an important role in the development of the city, but during World War II Kazimierz was turned into a ghetto, the inhabitants were later moved to a new ghetto on the other side of the Podgorze river and then on to the concentration camps.
Today there are small galleries, fun shops, thrift stores and several bars and restaurants. It's a really lively area.
