Kahler branch

In the Rothaar Mountains in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia lies the 842-metre-high Kahler Asten, which is also the most famous mountain in the Sauerland. At the top is a weather station, an ideal destination when hiking in the area or on the Kahler Asten itself. The tower almost acts as a monument with an observation tower that also houses the well-known weather station, the tower restaurant and a natural history exhibition.

There are several hiking routes up to the summit and you won't regret taking the family on one of the wonderful walks. Enjoy the magnificent views and hike through dense pine forests with springs and the many historic boundary stones that mark the area.

In Kahler Asten and the surrounding mountains you will also find some of the very famous winter sports regions in central Germany, thanks to the good snow conditions and in Kahler Asten itself you will find among others the Skiliftkarussell Winterberg.
