Heede is known for its beautiful location along the River Ems and there are great opportunities for cycling, hiking etc while enjoying the idyllic scenery and following the river's bend through the countryside.
An obvious destination for a self-drive holiday in northern Germany.
Heede also has a lovely lake, Heeder See, known in the area for its good beach and swimming opportunities.
The centuries-old Lime Tree, which was already a feature of the town in the Middle Ages, consists of 12 lime trees that have grown together over the years. The trees are a landmark of Heede and it is many years since the trees had grown so large and heavy that steel was brought in to help hold the trees together so they did not fall apart.
