Gouda is best known for its cheeses and if you come here in July or August, you'll be lucky enough to experience the cheese market. The Gouda Cheese Market is held during these two months in front of the town hall and the cheese dairy. In the centre of town, the Gouda Town Hall is located on one of Holland's largest market squares and with its flags, sculptures and colourful shutters, is an interesting building and well worth a visit. Another building worth a visit is the Sint-Janskerk, famous for its 16th century stained glass windows. A walk around the city is also an experience in itself. Canals, bridges, statues and beautiful old buildings make Gouda feel like a fairytale.
