Come and discover Fur, probably one of Denmark's most beautiful islands. Fur was voted "Denmark's most beautiful island" in 2010, and after a visit to Fur, it certainly is. Take a walk down to the beach and enjoy the good weather and the unique opportunity to get an exciting insight into the Danish past. But start by visiting the exciting island museum, Fur Museum, which gives its visitors a really good insight into the island's history, and then of course there's the absolutely incredible exhibition of fossils. There are also nature workshops and a dinosaur geopark. And believe it or not, there is also a brewery on Fur, located in the former mill factory. The factory has been modernised and now houses a microbrewery and a few restaurants. During the summer there are regular tours of the factory, and the tour of the brewery also throws up a few tasters. An exciting range of beers are produced, from porters to wheat and lagers, and more than 15 different light and darker beers are brewed, so there should be a few that hit the spot. Perhaps this is also where the many Fur artists find their inspiration. There are no fewer than 20 studios and workshops on the island, producing everything from jewellery design and ceramics to sculpture and silk painting.
