Feskekörka was inaugurated on 1 November 1874 and was designed by Gothenburg's city architect at the time, Victor von Gegerfelt. The building is known for its characteristic pointed roof, which at the time of its construction was seen as a particularly futuristic building project. In 1910, the fish auction was moved from Feskekörka to the new fishing harbour. Since then, Feskekörka has developed into one of Sweden's leading places for the sale of fresh seafood and is today one of Gothenburg's best-known brands and famous attractions.
