Enjoy the cosy city of Dordrecht in the province of South Holland. The city has about 120,000 inhabitants and is the most important and oldest city in its area. The city has a lot of culture and history, which is especially evident in the cityscape and the cosy streets. Dordrecht's inner city is filled with both small and large canals. These canals are definitely worth a visit as they take you through a historical journey and beautiful architecture.
Discovering Dordrecht on foot is easy and inviting. Most of the sights are all located in the area near the three old canals: Nieuwehaven, Wolwevershaven and Wijnhaven. A good place to start is the Visbrug, which leads over the canal and from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city's old town hall. On the north side, turn right into Groenmarkt and stroll past some of the city's oldest houses, which date back to the early 16th century. At Scheffersplein you'll find an area where there are various markets, while you should also take a closer look at the Augustinerwerk, the city's old church with a façade dating back to 1773.
