The Doge's Palace in St Mark's Square is one of Venice's most important sights. The White House pales in comparison to the opulent palace from which the Doge ruled for more than 1000 years. Walk up the Giants' Staircase and see the colossal statues of Mars and Neptune. Inside, you'll also find the Senate Chamber, where laws were passed, and the Hall of the Council of Timans, where the judiciary ensured state security. The Doge's Palace contains large paintings depicting Venice as the victorious and just state.
