An obvious city to visit is Chemnitz. The city is one of the most important cities in East Germany. In 1953, the city was named Karl Marx Stadt after the famous communist philosopher and economist. However, the city regained its original name when Germany was reunited in 1990. Large parts of the city were heavily damaged during World War II, but the town hall, among others, has been rebuilt, so that both old and new parts of the fascinating building can be found. You can also visit one of the biggest attractions, also of scale, the world's largest brick bridge. The bridge over the Göltz Valley was built of 26 million bricks in the years 1846-1851.
