The town of Ceske Budejovice has been the centre of brewing since the 13th century and the beer, Budvar, is still one of the most popular beers in the Czech Republic today. This beer was also the original inspiration for the popular American version, Budweiser.
Take a stroll through the city; cross the beautiful Námesti Otakar II square, see the lovely Town Hall, the Renaissance state buildings and the beautiful Gothic and Baroque buildings. The area has good bus and tram connections and throughout the city there is a good cycle path if you fancy exploring the city that way.
