Western Götaland is bounded to the east by Sweden's two largest lakes, Vänern and Vättern, while Kattegat borders the area to the west. On the coast is Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg with many attractions. Whether you want to enjoy nature, culture or sport, Vestre Götaland has something to offer.
The area is therefore also perfect for active holidays, wellness holidays, family holidays and city breaks. On a self-drive holiday with Risskov you can find it all.
Discover one of Sweden's biggest tourist attractions, the Göta Canal, which runs through the countryside from Lake Sjötorp to the large lakes Vänern and Vättern. If you're travelling with children, Skara Sommerland and Liseberg amusement park are fun excursions. Visit the famous and spectacular waterfall outside Trollhättan or see the Royal Hunting Museum on Elgbjerget, where you'll also find Elgpark. In Trollhättan you can also visit the SAAB Museum.
Gothenburg offers exciting shopping, culture, theatres, concerts and cosy restaurants. On Vanäs promontory is the exciting Karlsborg fortress and on Kållandsö, Vänern's largest island, you can see Läckö Castle, which has exciting exhibitions. To the east is scenic Billingen, where you can ski in winter. The nature offers a wide variety of deciduous and coniferous forests.
