Nylars Church

Visit Bornholm's best preserved round church, Nylars Kirke, built around 1160. The frescoes on the central column, believed to be among Bornholm's oldest, tell the story of the creation of Adam and Eve and the exile from the Garden of Eden. In the porch you will find two Christian rune stones, the oldest of which dates back to around 1050. The beautiful free-standing bell tower of timberwork dates from the late Middle Ages and stands on a large extension of boulders from the 1500s.
