Železná Ruda
Železná Ruda is a small town in the western part of the Bohemian Mountains and is a famous holiday resort in the Czech Republic. It is located only three kilometres from the border with Bavaria. In the 16th century it was on an important trade route to Bavaria, where iron ore was smelted. In the 1700s, mining was replaced by the glass industry, and the town is home to a glass museum.
The city's landmark is the Catholic Church of the Virgin Mary with two onion-shaped Baroque domes. Another interesting cultural attraction is the city's Museum of the Bohemian Mountains.
