Wisłoujście Fortress

Gdansk has been a central trading city for many centuries, and the Wisłoujście fortress is an excellent example of how well the city was protected already in the 15th century. It was from here that the fleet sailed in 1627 and defeated the Swedes at the Battle of Oliwa. What the keen observer will notice is that the fortress is built in different styles, depending on the repairs that had to be made after the devastating wars.
