Visby Prison
The old prison in Visby was formerly known as "Sjumastaren" and was built in 1857. The most famous prisoner here was Konrad Tektor Lundquist, who, together with Gustaf Adolf Ericsson Hjert, was sentenced to death for robbery and theft. Tektor was beheaded on 18. May 1876 - the last public execution in Sweden. Today there is a hostel on the site, but you can easily just come and visit and see the place.
