Villa Taranto

Villa Taranto is one of the world's most important botanical gardens, with thousands of different trees and flowers from around the globe, planted harmoniously over an area of 16 hectares. The garden is predominantly English in style, but there is no shortage of Italian touches, such as statues, fountains, ponds, terraces and waterfalls.

The park was conceived and founded in 1931 by Scottish Captain Neil McEacharn, with the clear aim of creating his dream garden on the shores of Lake Maggiore. In the centre of the park today stands Neil McEarcharn's mausoleum.
