Tønder

The southern Jutland town of Tønder is only 5 kilometres from the Danish-German border and has about 8,000 inhabitants. Take a stroll through the charming streets, which are surrounded by small shops and cosy restaurants and cafés.

Tønder is Denmark's oldest town, with rights dating back to 1243. The town is particularly known for its retail trade and for the sale of silver.

Every year, the city holds the Tønder Festival, an event that brings together a large number of the city's inhabitants and is also very well attended by visitors from both home and abroad. Tønder Festival is a musical festival that focuses mainly on jazz music.

In addition, the romantic atmosphere of the city attracts thousands of couples every year who come to Tønder to get married.
