Telegraph station No 32
A relic of a forgotten communications technology, the 32nd Prussian optical telegraph station stands tall on the Oeynhausen peninsula just outside Nieheim. The station was active between 1833 and 1849 and was the 32nd of its kind on the Berlin-Koblenz telegraph line. After just 15 years it was taken out of service when the new and better electromagnetic telegraph was invented. On request, it is possible to have a guided tour with an expert, around the station.
