Rugbjerg Knot Lighthouse

The old lighthouse was built in 1899, but due to the great sand drift over the years, it was switched off in 1968 when it was realised that the light could no longer be seen from the water. There was also a small museum in the old staff buildings, but that too was abandoned when the sand destroyed the buildings. The exhibition has moved to Strandfogedgården in Rubjerg and is part of the Vendsyssel Historical Museum.

In 2019, Rugbjerg's Bearded Lighthouse was moved further inland and away from the coast.
