Rold Skov

Rold Skov is Denmark's largest forest. With its 8000 hectares, it offers plenty of experiences of various kinds. Of course, the forest offers a lot of nice hikes, for example around the lake Store Økssø. Rold Skov is a true mecca for MTB riders, as there are routes of varying difficulty and length. Horse riding in the vast forest is also popular. There is also a wonderful nature playground, Røverknolden, which invites you to play and have fun.

In the old days it could be quite dangerous to visit the place. Legendary robbers such as Bette Fanden, Long Ajes, Lorentz Nielsen and Petronillen kept a sharp eye on the inn, and when guests on their way home passed through Rold Skov, the robbers would strike. But thankfully the robberies in the forest are a thing of the past and today only the legend lives on, along with the beautiful statues commemorating the four robbers.
