One of them is the fairytale Rheinstein Castle, majestically perched on a steep cliff opposite the Assmannhausen district of Rüdesheim am Rhein. It is one of the most important examples of a romantic castle reconstruction. The masterpiece was designed by the architect Johann Claudis of Lassaulx and built in the early 15th century as a princely summer residence. The interior is characterised by beautiful glass mosaics and wall paintings. It is also possible to find cheap weekend breaks with child-friendly hotels in the area with Risskov.
