North Øyeren Nature Reserve

If you feel like spending the day in the fresh air, a trip to Nordre Øyeren Nature Reserve might be a good plan. This wetland area has several islands and is home to around 270 species of birds, as well as incredibly varied and very rich plant life. The nature reserve was protected in 1975 and covers an area of around 62 square kilometres, 55 of which are water bodies. Tours to the nature reserve are organised regularly and there is also a cosy coffee shop at the visitor centre in Fetsund, where, among other things, Turkish coffee is served.
