Neuf-Brisach

Neuf-Brisach is a truly unique town with a town plan from 1698 designed by Vauban, a military engineer under Louis XIV. Vauban died in 1707 and Neuf-Brisach was his last major project and is considered his masterpiece. The city design is an octagonal fort with a square street. In the middle of the village is an impressive church. The village

was damaged during World War II, but it is a unique example

on fortified architecture from the early 1700s. Today, the village is occupied by the UNESCO World Heritage List. Don't miss a guided tour through the village or visit the Vauban Museum, which tells the fascinating history of the town.
