National Armoury
Housed in a five-story Baroque building just steps from Graz’s Hauptplatz, the Styrian Armoury (Landeszeughaus) is the world’s largest historical armoury with over 32,000 original weapons and armour on display. Built between 1642–1645 to equip troops defending Styria from Ottoman and Hungarian threats, it remains largely in its original layout, giving visitors a rare chance to wander through aisles stacked with helmets, swords, muskets, and full horse armour. Guided tours are offered in German and English, and for many, this immersive experience—where the items are visible rather than behind glass—brings history vividly to life.
