Dokken Open Air Museum

Find a cheap summer holiday to Norway's West Coast and visit the Dokken Open Air Museum located on idyllic Hasseløy, better known as 'Bakarøynå'. Here you can see and experience the coastal houses as dwellings, herring ageing, butchers workshop, colonial shops and houses dating back to the herring period between 1850-1960. There is also an interesting photo exhibition 'Life between the houses' which gives quite a good insight into both religious and social life in the area. It's also interesting just to wander around the houses outside opening hours. There are child-friendly hotels in the area, find them at Risskov and have a great holiday with the whole family.
