Cinque Terre

During your stay in Liguria, a visit to Cinque Terre - a stunningly beautiful coastal area in the south-west of the region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997 - is an absolute must. This includes the coastal town of Portovenere and the islands of Tino and Tinetto, south of La Spezia. In total, the area is home to five villages, each with its own attractions. Among the most popular are Monterosso and Manarola, both of which are exemplary ambassadors of the kissing style and charm that Cinque Terre stands for.

Cinque Terre is characterised by steep coastlines, which in some places go almost vertically up and down, and the towns are perched on the cliffs, giving a very special atmosphere whichever one you walk around. The towns are connected by a footpath and there is not actually a regular road between them. There is, however, a railway line, most of which is made up of tunnels.

The area was registered as a national park in 1999 and is now a world-famous destination for tourists from near and far. Experience the fabulous Cinque Terre for yourself with a cheap hotel stay in Liguria.
