Charleroi

While on holiday at the Eau d'Heure Lakes, it's a good idea to visit Charleroi, the largest city in Wallonia, which offers plenty of culture, history, shopping and sightseeing in a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere. The city is not overrun by tourism, often falling in the shadow of the bigger tourist magnets like Brussels and Bruges, which are not far away, and this makes it a bit of an undiscovered gem.

The city houses a number of interesting museums, beautiful churches and several good shopping opportunities. South of the city you will also find the popular mining museum, Bois du Cazier, which is definitely worth a visit.
