Black Sun
If you're going on a mini-vacation in Southern Jutland this spring or autumn, you might be lucky enough to experience the natural phenomenon of the Black Sun, when starlings gather in the south-west Jutland marshes in huge flocks for migration. The large flocks of birds make fascinating patterns in the sky just before they land on the ground for the night - this phenomenon is called Black Sun and can in some cases contain as many as 1 million birds. The spring migration of starlings runs from February to mid-April, and the autumn migration begins in August and can last until December.
