North Jutland

Exceptional scenery on a self-drive holiday to North Jutland

From the wide sandy beaches and roaring sea of the west coast to the yellow houses of Skagen and the beautiful landscape of the Limfjord, North Jutland offers a wealth of exciting experiences and a magnificent and varied nature. It is therefore not surprising that every year many people choose to take a self-drive holiday to this beautiful part of Denmark.

On your trip around Northern Jutland, you can visit many interesting attractions and sights such as Grenen, Ruberg Knude, Den Tilsandede Kirke or Denmark's largest hiking trail Råbjerg Mile.

The area offers outstanding scenery, child-friendly beaches on the Kattegat and a wide range of activities and events all year round. It is therefore ideal for a family holiday. You can hike in nature, take a walk along the beach, or if you want to be more energetic, surf the waves, ride a mountain bike or go for a run in the beautiful surroundings. There are plenty of opportunities for children to enjoy the fresh air and get close to the beautiful Danish nature.

The west coast of Jutland is an attraction in itself. Nature is ever-changing and therefore a unique experience. Take a trip to the beach and experience the endless dunes and the roaring sea. The coast is definitely worth a visit, both on a calm sunny day and when the wind is rushing and the waves are roaring. It is also on the West Coast that you will find the beautiful white bathing houses and the two very popular towns of Løkken and Blokhus. Both towns offer lovely sandy beaches and fun activities - which is why they attract many visitors from near and far, especially in summer.

Fårup Sommerland is another great destination for a family holiday in Jutland. The park is close to Blokhus and has a wide range of attractions for young and old. Here you can ride the rollercoaster so it tickles your stomach, challenge each other to a game of mini golf or take a ride in the cycle boats on the lake.

On a self-drive holiday to North Jutland, it's also easy to visit the idyllic town of Skagen, where you can wander the cosy streets and admire the beautiful yellow Skagen houses with their characteristic red roofs. Don't miss the many galleries and art museums, such as Skagens Museum, where you can see some of Skagen's most famous paintings. In summer, you can take a trip on the Sandormen, all the way out to Grenen, and experience the waves and roar of the sea. This is where the two seas, Skagerrak and Kattegat, meet and you can stand with 'a leg in each sea'.

On the way from Skagen to Frederikshavn you can stop in the town of Aalbæk, where the small, cosy harbour is worth a visit. It is also on this stretch, along the east coast, further down towards the port town of Frederikshavn, that you will find many lovely beaches where the children can have fun.

Further south you can experience the fantastic wildlife at the beaches along the Limfjorden, visit Dronninglund or enjoy a city break in cultural Aalborg. So pack the car and take the whole family on an unforgettable holiday in North Jutland. It is easy to book a nice and cheap mini holiday at Risskov.
